Club Party Onboard The Golden Flame

Nick Burrows, Social Secretary for the University of Greenwich Rugby Club takes some time out of his day to answer questions about the upcoming boat party on Valentine's day.

Who are you and what do you do?

I am one of the Bar Managers for the University of Greenwich Students' Union but am also the Social Secretary for the University of Greenwich Men's Rugby Club.

How many times have you organised a boat party?

We have organised many over the years but since I have taken the post of Social Sec I have organised five.

What do you like about CPBS / our boats?

It's always a friendly service, easy to book and the crew are great on the night.

Which is your favorite boat and why?

We hosted three sell out events in 2006 and have another three this year, 2007.

Which is your favourite boat and why?

We have used both the Sundance and Golden Jubilee, but for me the Golden Jubilee is the best, purely due to the large open deck at the back.

What's your favorite sight along the river Thames?

The best sight for me is leaving Greenwich pier and looking back at our University. It means that I have organised everything ok, everyone is on the boat and I can finally go have a drink and relax!

Is your event a fundraiser, if so which charity is this for?

We actually use the money raised from the parties to help us go on tour at Easter. It covers the cost of tour shirts and other stash.

Are you planning any other boat parties this year?

Our boat party is next Wednesday, Valentine's day then that is it and it's time to start looking at Freshers' week next Sept / Oct.

Which three words best describe your Capital Pleasure Boats experience?

Ease, fun and drinking!

What do you enjoy most about the parties you hold on our boats?

It's the whole experience. The best ones are the Freshers' boat parties, to see the look on the Freshers' faces as we see the sights up the Thames, for a lot of them it's the first time in London.
